well this past weekend, Zach and I had the priveledge to go on a Strong Bonds marriage retreat in Kansas City. It was so amazing. We even had our first date alone in over a year. I came to the point that I realized that I married an amazing man! and I love him more every day!
We got a new cat today, she is a Seal Point/Tortoise Shell Siamese. Teddy isn't quite sure what to think of her yet. Zach says he has 3 days to get used to her otherwise we have to give her back which is fine because for those of you who dont know, we adopted Teddy a year ago. He had been abused and neglected, we worked with him nearly 6 months before we were even able to pet him! Now he sleeps on the bed with us, so I totally understand why Zach would get rid of Recon (the siamese) before he gets rid of Teddy.
I booked my first wedding cake tonight!! For May 1st Im VERY excited! I will post more on this!
Well until another night............
Well, the countdown continues to the day when Zach leaves. We've been busy visiting family, packing our house and just plain working. Zach has worked to 7 pm the last 3 days he worked. However, this past weekend we did have a 4 day and went to Arkansas to visit my Grandparents and cousins, which was great fun. Ally got to play with my cousins little girl Sarah. They are 3 months apart in age and had an absolute blast playing with each other.
For those of you that dont know my Grandparents live in Gentry Arkansas, were as chance would have it, is where Little Debbies are made. so on Friday Grandma and I went down to the company store and I came home with about 6 cases of miscellaneous Little Debbies, however most of them are for my adopted soldiers and best friend Caroline.
Well I have a lot more to catch you up on............but Im exhausted, Kaylee decided to keep me up all last night and its already past midnight tonight. So for now Im headed to bed.
Oh I will mention 2 very high points in my life today, 1: My ex husband agreed to let my husband adopt Ally and 2. Ally gets to start Girl Scouts next week!!
Until another time................
Well from the title of this blog you may wonder what these have in common.
Well they are all things I can do when the girls are down in the afternoon for naps or quiet time. Normally, Ally just has quiet time in her room. Occasionally she will lay down for a nap. But on the rare occassion like today, she NEEDS a nap and goes down screaming bloody murder about how she doesn't need a nap and all she wants to do is play.
These rare occasions are VERY hard for me, because I have to put Kaylee somewhere (like the swing, or bumbo seat) while I deal with her sister. But Kaylee hearing her sister, will start crying in sympathy. I finally resolved today's outburst by telling her if she wasn't quiet that she would be staying in her room for the rest of the day even after quiet time. Shortly there after I checked on her and she had already fallen asleep! Kaylee took about a 45 minute nap woke up, ate then went back to sleep!
I have become a very HUGE fan of OxyClean stain remover!! It works wonders!! Kaylee had a blowout diaper this morning and it went all over her swing and new PJ's she was wearing. I sprayed the OxyClean on it and when I changed over the wash to the dryer all the stains from the explosion were GONE!! I should mention that for me to do laundry currently I have to go either upstairs or downstairs and pay $2 per load to get it done. Zach and I have figured out that the laundry mat is a much more cost effective and time efficient way to do laundry! So on Sunday we plan on going to the laundry mat to do laundry. I do a load here and there as needed during the week.
Zach is flying tonight so I think Im going to make Monkey bread. My friend Ernie (also my Angel from when I was deployed) gave me a great easy bread recipie and I use it all the time. So Im going to try it out on Monkey bread tonight. (It makes WONDERFUL cinnamon rolls as well) Here is the recipie:
Combine the following ingredients in a large tupperware bowl:
4 beaten eggs
1 tsp salt
2/3c Sugar
9 c Flour
1 1/2 c Milk
1 1/2 c luke warm water
2 pkgs yeast
Once you mix together let set (30min-1hr)
Add 1 or 2 sticks of melted butter/marg. put lid back on and let rise in warm place for one hour
bake at 375. until golden brown!
Enjoy!!...............until next time
Let me introduce myself to you and tell you a little about myself for those that don't already know me.
Im 30 years old and for the past 11 I was an Active duty Army soldier. However, last April I got out of the Army to become a full time mom. So I went from Army Life to Army wife. My husband has been in the Army for 7 years now and he is a black hawk crew cheif. We met in Iraq in 2003 and then again in 2008, where we started dating and fell in love. I returned from Iraq in September and he December.
We got married December 20th. And for the next 5 months would alternate visits to each other (I was stationed in Washington and he in Kansas). Oh, I also forgot to mention that I got pregnant shortly after we got married. (that was the plan). In May 2009, I moved my cat, my 4 year old daughter and myself down to Kansas, to begin my life as an Army wife.
So far, I've found out that Im quite an accomplished baker and cook with my free time not to mentioned a pretty good mom. I love to cook and bake for all my husbands soldiers and they seem to love it as well.
I gave birth to our daughter on September 18th, 2009. and have been watching her grow like a weed ever since. My husband and I had our big wedding on November 8th for our whole families and friends to be there.
Not too long after that we decided that when my husband deploys in March of this year, I will move to Hutchinson, KS to be closer to his family. I already have a house rented and we have started moving things in.
Im also very involved with Soldiers Angels A program that helped me out while I was deployed and now Im paying it forward! Im a Letter Writing Team leader and an Angel to 3 deployed soldiers. (I'll explain this all more in upcoming blogs)
I have many plans and ideas for my year while Zach (my husband is deployed). I'll start a list of them all on here and keep you updated to changes or events. Not to mention milestones that I or my daughters reach!
My goal is to blog at least once a week until he leaves then every day while he is gone. This is a WHOLE new undertaking since I only know the "deployed soldier" side of deployments and have never done the whole "wife" of a soldier so far.
I thank you for taking the time to follow my journey from Army Life to Army wife.
Until the next time..............
